Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes
Our in-house endocrinologist specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the glands, hormones and metabolism.
Should you experience symptoms or have test results indicating a problem, our specialist will consult with you and your primary care physician to evaluate your condition and oversee your care, including treatment for:
- Diabetes
- High cholesterol
- Osteoporosis
- Paget's Disease
- Kidney stones
- Thyroid problems, including thyroid cancer
Diabetes Diagnosis:
Classic symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination with excessive thirst, weight loss and fatigue. If you have experienced any of these symptoms or are at increased risk due to family history or because you are overweight, your Pacific Medical Centers doctor can give you a simple blood sugar test to determine your condition.
Elevated Cholesterol:
If your doctor finds that you are suffering from high cholesterol, you could be at risk for heart disease or stroke. Lowering your cholesterol either through diet or medications can reduce your risk. If your cholesterol has not responded to the usual treatment regime, an endocrinologist can research and recommend different or additional medications that can be effective in lowering cholesterol to a healthy level.
Other Areas of Expertise:
In addition to the more common disorders of the glands and hormones, Pacific Medical Centers' endocrinologist is also an expert at the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses such as Addison's disease, Cushing's disease, pituitary tumors and hypercalcemia.
